In accordance with its eponymous purpose, Swiss AIDS Federation has been involved in all issues and concerns relating to HIV/Aids and other sexually transmitted infections since 1985. As a national umbrella organisation, it works to achieve the following goals.

Our goals

  • We are committed to ensuring that everyone can live their sexuality with dignity, freedom and equal rights.
  • We improve the quality of life of people with HIV and those close to them.
  • We prevent new infections in target groups with an increased risk of exposure through effective prevention programmes and raise public awareness of safer sex and safer use.
  • We give a voice to sexual health and rights issues in Switzerland by taking a stand on social and health issues and contributing our expertise to social and political opinion-forming processes.
  • We promote low-threshold access to healthcare, including for those for whom this is difficult.
  • We pursue an inclusive approach and combat discrimination.

Our identity

The Swiss AIDS Federation is an umbrella organisation of independent cantonal, regional and national non-profit organisations. Together, its members and office form a nationwide network, a competence centre and a point of contact in the areas of HIV, hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, sexual health, sexual orientation and gender identity. We are committed to the physical, emotional, mental and social well-being of all people at different stages of their lives.

For people affected by HIV/Aids, STIs or hepatitis, we are a specialist centre, partner and advocate.

We develop our own ideas and concepts and work in partnership on an equal footing with the public sector. We are committed to participation through good networking and cooperation not only with our members, but also with local, national and international organisations.
