One in nine people who ordered a free HIV self-test as part of a pilot project run by Aids-Hilfe Schweiz had never previously been tested for HIV. An accompanying study shows that anonymous and free self-tests break down barriers to access. They are therefore a key piece of the jigsaw in achieving the Federal Council’s ambitious goal of eliminating new HIV infections by 2030.
