Safer sex rules

Follow these rules to protect yourself effectively against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

  1. Use a condom for vaginal and anal sex.
  2. For recommendations based on your personal sexuality, try our Safer Sex Check.

Safer sex doesn't simply mean protecting yourself every single time you have sex. It is at least as important to take action when something happens. While safer sex protects very well against HIV, other STIs such as chlamydia and syphilis can still be transmitted.
